            WRITING COMPETITIONS

                                2009

If you are intending to enter several of our open competitions it may be worthwhile considering taking out an annual subscription to one of our magazines. In addition to receiving four issues of the magazine you subscribe to, you would be entitled to unlimited free entry in all our competitions. You may begin your subscription whenever you wish and your entitlement to free entry to the competitions lasts for the duration of the subscription. We run several competitions every year including 2 open poetry competitions, two open short story competitions and the annual article competition. These competitions are in addition to those in each issue of the magazines.

An annual subscription to either Scribble or Countryside Tales costs £12.00 (overseas £15.00). A subscription to Debut is £15.00 (overseas £20.00). Inclusive of p&p. Cheques/Postal Orders payable to Park Publications.

ALL ENTRIES TO COMPETITIONS MUST BE PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED AND THE WRITER’S OWN WORK. ENTRIES MUST BE TYPED OR WORD-PROCESSED ON SINGLE SIDES OF A4 PAPER (OR SIMILAR). POETRY MAY BE HAND-WRITTEN AS LONG AS IT IS READABLE. IF YOU WISH TO BE ADVISED OF SAFE ARRIVAL PLEASE ENCLOSE A STAMPED, SELF-ADDRESSED POSTCARD. ENTRY FORMS ARE NOT REQUIRED BUT PLEASE ENCLOSE A COVER SHEET WITH YOUR NAME, ADDRESS AND TITLE OF ENTRY. AND DON’T FORGET THE USUAL SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE WITH CORRECT POSTAGE FOR RETURN OF UNSUCCESSFUL ENTRIES OR RESULTS.

Debut , the new short fiction magazine,

requires short stories up to 3000 words on any subject.

 

The first issue is now available and contains all the short-listed entries in the open competition, which closed on November 30th 2008.

 

Prizes of £75.00. £25.00. £15.00 will be awarded in each issue as chosen by the readers.

 

 

Entry fees: With critique - £5.00 per story.

Without critique: £3.00.

Cheques/postal orders payable to Park Publications.

 

FREE entry and critique for all subscribers to Debut.

 

No Closing Date: successful stories will appear in the next appropriate issue.

 

Please note: Debut welcomes work from ALL writers; you do NOT have to be a new or unpublished writer.

 

All entries should be typed/word-processed on single sides of A4 paper. Pleased enclose a cover sheet with name, address and title of work. If you require a critique, return of work or results, please enclose a self-addressed envelope containing sufficient postage. Safe arrival of entries will be acknowledged if you enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

The May issue of Debut (number 2) is now available from Park Publications: priced at £4.25 (overseas - £4.75) it contains eleven short stories plus information on forthcoming competitions. To obtain a copy please send a cheque or postal order, made payable to Park Publications, to our postal address.
